Another Boy Moshe found his way to Shalvat Haim through the suggestion of a good friend. Moshe is one of triplets born to a couple in New York. His mother is a gentile and his father Jewish had a miserable marriage which ended up in a vicious divorce leaving the triplets stranded to be on their own without proper guidance and care. While his two other brothers were placed in foster care, Moshe , who had suffered greatly from his childhood Trauma ,wandered from city to city as a wayward teenager. Finally he walked into a synagogue in New Jersey and found solace in the Jewish community there. The Rabbi told him that he was not Jewish so he could not join the community but he was so inspired by the kindness and good will of the community that he decided to become a gare tzeddek a convert from one of the righteous nations. He studied very hard until he underwent conversion and the Rabbi sent him off to Israel to study. Because of his illness of Manic depression he did not succeed in the yeshiva world and therefore decided to go to work unfortunately because of his serious condition he went from job to job never staying more than a month …..

After sometime a friend of his saw him wandering the streets and sent him to Rabbi Edery in which he was admitted into the assisted living facility in Har Nof, Jerusalem.

Moshe had no money and therefore was given room board and therapy for free! He came and went as he pleased but still proved to be quite unstable since he refused to take any medication.

Due to his unstable behavior, Rabbi Edery told him that if he would like to live in his institution on a permanent basis he will have to go to a psychiatrist and take medication.

He agreed to get the help he needed and today he is one of the 5 people living in Harnof’s assisted living facility with a stable work/sudy program he has gained weight and is now on his way to becoming a responsible and functioning member of the community. Moshe has no one to pay for his upkeep and therefore we depend on our donors to help support Moshe helping Shalvat Haim to provide a home with room and board including therapy, and recreational activities to him and many others in need.
